Juggling the weight of school assignments, a job, and a social life can be extremely exhausting, stressful, and can lead to becoming sick. It’s especially important to take care of our bodies during these depleting times, but it’s difficult when there is little time to de-stress.

However, everyone has the time and resources to breathe, which means everyone can benefit from aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic plant oils to decrease stress and promote healing. These oils are known as essential oils, which work to ignite your senses and enliven your body. While simply breathing in essential oils is a great place to start, some people take their practice further by using an oil diffuser or massaging oils into the skin. These aromatherapy uses can help lift the weight of stress and illness through whatever method you choose.

Lavender for Stress

Lavender is the most common essential oil used in aromatherapy. Use lavender oil for stress by placing a few drops in an oil diffuser, directly onto skin, or onto clothes. Its sweet aroma can greatly reduce stress and anxiety due to the ebbs and flows of life.

Eucalyptus for Congestion

Inhaling this invigorating oil when your sinuses and throat are congested can help clear the symptoms of sickness. The best ways to experience eucalyptus’ benefits are by diffusing the oil throughout the day, placing a few drops in boiling water and creating a steam bath by placing a towel over your head and deeply breathing, or rubbing a few drops onto your chest before bedtime to experience similar benefits as applying vapo-rub.

Rosemary for Focus

Rosemary has a strong and distinct scent, which makes it easy to recall when smelled. This specific oil is like magic when trying to focus during a study session and when trying to recall information during a test. Place a few drops of rosemary oil onto your wrists and inhale throughout the study session. When you go to take the quiz or exam you’ve been studying for, place a few drops on the wrists then too. Notice how easy it was to recall the information you studied.

Chamomile for Sleep

Chamomile is known for its calming effect. By diffusing this oil or placing a few drops onto your pillow before bedtime, you can experience the relaxing properties that chamomile offers while it lifts the weight of the day and sends you right to sleep.

Add these essential oils to your well-being toolbox and experience a unique type of healing that can relieve many problems students face.
